Welcome Back Week: August 21 – 28

Interested in attending events that will allow you to meet new people? Make sure to join the fun for Welcome Back Week during the first week of school. This week will include programs hosted by departments and student organizations to help you kick off the school year. For a list of events, follow us on social media @loyno_slm and check out our HowlConnect portal!

HowlConnect

We are excited to introduce you to our student engagement platform, HowlConnect, which connects you to meaningful campus opportunities, such as student organizations and events, and helps you easily manage and track your campus involvement. You sign in to HowlConnect through your Single Sign On (SSO) portal and create an account to track your co-curriculars and check into events. If you are having trouble logging in, please reach out to the IT Help Desk at 504.865.2255 or at support@253000xa.com

Corq

Corq is the mobile app for HowlConnect. Corq helps students discover co-curricular opportunities on campus and at other local universities, view active student organizations, and access your Event Pass, so you can easily check into events. You can use the Perks filter to view events that have common search terms like “free food,” “free stuff,” and “credit.” Download Corq for free from your app store and stay updated with everything going on at Loyola!

First Year Council (FYC) is an amazing opportunity for both incoming first year students and transfer students to be introduced to Loyola’s Student Government Association. Through FYC you will establish connections with incoming students like you, get a crash course in all things SGA, present to the SGA Senate, and plan your very own event! At the end of FYC, you will be placed into an SGA position to continue your SGA journey. Apply now for FYC! Applications must be submitted by August 24, 2024. For any questions, please reach out to SGA Chief of Staff Rediate Sanders at rsanders@my.253000xa.com.

University Programming Board

The University Programming Board (UPB) is the official programming board under the Student Government Association. Students collectively plan campus-wide social events, both on ground and virtual, throughout the year that are educational, social, and entertaining. From movie nights to crawfish boils, UPB brings the Wolf Pack together for unforgettable celebrations that define life at Loyola. Follow UPB on Instagram @loyno_upb for more information and updates!

Get Involved in Campus Ministry

There are so many opportunities for you to get involved in ministry on campus! Here are a couple of options:

  • Looking to meet other students? Join an Ignatian Life Community! ILCs are weekly student-led small groups where you can take time out of your week to reflect, relax, and remind yourself of who you are and where you're headed with other Loyola students. Based in Ignatian spirituality, ILCs are open to anyone looking for a great community to help you find God in all things. Learn more and register to join an ILC by Friday, September 6.
  • Looking for a time to experience God’s love more intimately and to connect with other students who are interested in exploring their faith and building community? Come on a retreat or day of reflection. Students of all and no spiritual/religious traditions are welcome. You don't have to be Catholic or any other Christian denomination or even religious to attend. Check out our retreat offerings like the Wilderness Immersion (October 4–6), Awakening, or the Busy Persons Retreat.

Connect to Your Faith Community

At Loyola, we welcome students from all faith backgrounds! If you would like to connect with a community of students who share your faith, please fill out this form. You will be contacted by the leader of the faith community of your choosing (choose however many communities you want!). Thank you for offering the gift of your religious affiliation to the Loyola community! Please reach out to Associate Director of Ministry Ken Weber at kweber@253000xa.com with any questions about getting connected spiritually.
